  : Unmade beds upon arrival. We had to make our own beds. Very small rooms. Sheets in the bunk bed was some type of blanket and didnt have proper bedding

  : This was the most awful accommodation myself and my son could not stay there , we had to go to different hotel .The room stank of smoke the shared toilet doors were broken there was no toilet paper , the corridors had strong smoke smell and contamination , we could not sleep there

  : It seemed easy to book, through booking.com. That was expected.
  : If we could have entered the hotel after paying for the room via Booking.com, it probably would have been fine. However, after paying that same evening from a restaurant a few blocks away, we were unable to enter the hotel, since no one was there after 9pm and the automat machine outside the front door did not accept our card, since the payment had not arrived from Booking.com. It seemed like a technical glitch with the machine, but no, it was a payment glitch, which was explained by a young woman who came down to explain it from the doorway. She was not there to let us in and said it was a booking.com problem. We had to leave and find another hotel. The worst of it: we never got our money back. Booking.com took our money and did not return it. Not only that, but the 'chat' that I managed to have with great difficulty with booking.com (extremely hard to communicate with them: they deliberately make it difficult) went nowhere and no one was bothered that we had lost our money for a room that we could not enter. Neither booking.com nor the F1 hotel in Verdun, which has not responded to my direct emails. Booking.com responded via chat, but in a weird English: 'After reviewing your situation, weve determined that Htel F1 Verdun has made the charge in accordance with your reservation policy, and therefore there is no need to be concerned.' 'Your' reservation policy? They charged us, so we have no reason to be concerned? It seems that the hotel's policy justifies their taking of our money without giving us the room we paid for. They appear to have treated it as a cancellation on the threshold, which justifies zero refund. Booking.com they got their commission and the hotel got what was left over for the room. Incidentally, this is why booking.com makes it so hard to cancel a booking: if they can force you to cancel directly at the hotel, i.e contact the hotel and not booking.com, they, booking.com, retain their commission.

  : Couldn't gain access. The machine outside didn't work in English or German, finally tried French and it worked. Waited outside in cold and rain with other customers , for over an hour.Emergency number didn't work.Reception not staffed in hours when stated.
