  : We were upgraded which was good. Otherwise, not too much other than the overall location which was perfect for our reason being in Southampton. Nice breakfast but not entirely sure it was worth the money paid for it!
  : On arrival, there were faeces in the toilet in our room.No guide re evacuation - found this out after the Fire Alarm went off. Didn't understand if this was a standard test or real.No guide for evacuation meant we walked down carpeted stairs which is contrary to UK Health & Safety standards. There were no obvious Fire Marshalls ie anyone wearing Hi-Viz jackets confirming what actions hotel residents should take.No running water in the shower which was put right by offering us the use of a "shared" shower on the floor below. Complaint raised through Booking.com but not dealt with properly or sufficiently. The Star Hotel did not deal with all of the raised issues only the Fire Evacuation procedure issues and dealt with by lying.

  : Tight spacing in car park.Our bedroom was on the top floor and the room temperature was 27 all night when the temperature outside during the day had been only 22 degrees. Although there was a fan, only one of the two windows opened.Poor water pressure for hot tap and shower and showerhead did not stay up.

  : Lack of organisation or drill when we had the fire alarms going off early morning. Nobody directing people and actually out of the whole hotel residents, there was only 5 of us outside. Staff had let everyone w go back into the hotel even though the firemen had stated it had not been checked and signed off as safe.

  : Location, lift to 3rd floor. Quite room 67 was a rear facing room. Close to town and it's shops.
  : We were given a key for the lock as the room had not had its upgrade. Key lock hard to openThe room was very hot even though the supplied floor fan was on all night.Windows are in very poor condition, and the bedroom one was actually screwed shut. The bathroom one looked very dodgy to open.The bathroom needs a complete renovation, a crack in the sink filled with filler, the shower cubicle needs painting.We were in room 67, and it was a large room with 2 double beds.Car parking is charged at £6 per night in a poorly maintained carpark but has cctv.

  : Breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly.
  : On arrival you can only stay if you show ID. I've stayed in 5 star hotels in the UK and I have never been asked for ID. Then another condition of stay is you need to give your credit card details and pay £25 just in case of damage to your room. It made me feel uncomfortable to say the least. Whenever I've stayed in 5 star hotels in the UK, they only ask for card details if you want to put services on the room number, but it's never been compulsory. The room was very old and dated, the mattress was old and uncomfortable, it had old furniture and mould, the extractor fan was full of dirt which can cause dangerous viruses. The room was nothing like the images shown.The room rates are extremely expensive, which is a rip off for what you actually get. Next time I'm going to stay in a 4 to 5 star hotel in Southampton, where you won't get treated like a criminal. I have owned my own hotel and I never treated my guests like criminals.

  : This was a cheaper hotel so you get what you pay for. It was an older building so our room was very pokey and old fashioned but it was very clean. The guy at reception was very helpful.The breakfast was very cheap and yummy. It was great value for money. So glad we ate there.It was easy distance to the cruise terminal. We walked there the next morning with ease.
  : The older style hotel but I suppose I knew what I was getting. It's just that the town was fairly heavily booked due to a cruise ship leaving next day. If you don't want to pay much for accommodation but still get cleanliness and a great breakfast then this is perfect.
