  : toilet backed up, light in bathroom burned out with no replacement. no blankets, neighbors were easy to hear and had tantrum if children in the morning and evening

  : A trip back in time--to the 1970s, The Naugahyde recliner, slightly tilted and coming off its base was a real crowd-pleaser. The rickety bunk beds that listed and squeaked every time one of the sleepers moved was another fun bonus. The raggedy wall-to-wall carpet in dirt-color was a throwback to a time when, well, dirty wall-to-wall carpeting was all the rage. The scattered tchotchkes looked like they'd been scrounged up from basements and flea markets across the country. I kept apologizing to my guests. We paid $1000 to stay two nights in a rustic, run-down museum dedicated to the 1970s. Did I mention that it was bloody hot? And for what we paid--two puny little fans. Sheesh. But, hey--we got to time-travel. That's amazing, right?
  : The ugly carpeting, the rickety bunk beds, the broken-down recliner. It was embarrassing.
