  : We didn’t need to pay in advance and had the option to leave.
  : We arrived at the motel and went into the reception area. It absolutely stank of cannabis. The motel looked very run down from the outside.The guy at reception was pleasant. We asked to see the room before confirming we would stay and he was gracious and allowed us to do so. When heading out of reception to check the room, we were met by a high homeless lady. She was screaming and arguing with herself, right outside the lower motel rooms and reception. This was very intimidating but regardless, we continued to find the room. We found the room, but it was occupied and, therefore, we couldn’t gain access. We headed back to reception to ask for help. We were intercepted by the high lady. She had, by this stage, taken her wig off and was waving this aggressively at us. She took a liking to my partner’s shoes and followed us into reception, still screaming, but this time, directly at us. We are calm, laid back people, and we did not engage with her through fear of the situation escalating. The guy at reception did absolutely nothing to help us (despite commenting that we are English and being aware that we were not familiar with the area). He stayed hiding behind his protective Perspex screen. We told him we felt we couldn’t stay at the motel as we didn’t feel safe, handed back the key card and made an extremely quick run for our car.
