Offering a 300-metre long private lakeshore at Lake Locarno the luxurious Castello del Sole features a spacious wellness centre with a gym tennis courts and a golf course. It is surrounded by a 14-hectare big private park. All rooms and suites come with air conditioning free wired internet access cable TV and balcony. The private bathrooms are equipped with toiletries bathrobes and slippers. Directly on the lakeshore guests can have a drink at the Spiaggia bar and terrace.

The various à la carte restaurants serve an international cuisine including sea food specialities. They offer outdoor dining options on the summer terrace. The Castello del Sole offers a playground for children and a rich animation programme in July and August. Baby sitting services are offered throughout the year on request. : Beautiful hotel with huge territory. Friendly personnel, great food and most comfortable beds. Beach is also really nice. We are definitely coming back again.
: Only downside is that despite the fact that the hotel is announced as dog-friendly one can only have the dog in the room, lobby and on 2 sunbeds hidden away in the corner next to spa. We should have checked detailed rules before booking as it turns out all dog-friendly hotels in Ascona are following the same policy. Personnel did their best to make our stay with the dog more pleasant, but next time we are coming without him for sure. If you have a choice I would advise to leave your 4-legged friends at home.

: Beautiful setting, great accommodations and very friendly staff.
: We were under the impression our certified service dog would be able to accompany us throughout the facilities. Unfortunately, he was not allowed in any of the restaurants with the exception of one lounge area. Therefore, we could not enjoy all the beautiful dining areas at the facility. This is just about the first time we have paid for this level of accommodations where our very certified service dog could not accompany us. We would like to return, but this was a very big disappointment.

: The head waiter of the main restaurant eyed us critically and reacted gruffly to the fact that we had no reservation for the restaurant. Yet numerous tables remained unoccupied on that night.
